- The number and appearance of chromosomes in the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell
- The term is also used to denote a test that can detect deviations from the normal number and formation of chromosomes.
- Normally, human cells have 46 chromosomes arranged in 23 pairs.
Indications :
- Intersex
- Recurrent Pregnancy loss
- Azoospermia
- Amniocentesis and testing of the fluid to detect genetic problems in the baby.
