RECANALIZATION
- Recanalization of the fallopian tubes is a procedure undertaken to reverse a tubectomy where a portion of tubes have been excised.
Pre procedure :
- Consent of both husband and wife after proper counselling is essential
- Husband’s semen analysis should be within normal limits.
- Other obvious causes of female infertility should be ruled out.
Procedure :
- Can be done by open method or by laparoscopy.
- Usually diagnostic laparoscopy is performed first, to ensure that sufficient lengths of the cut ends of the tubes are present before proceeding with the main procedure.
- Success rates vary from 30% to 60% with most pregnancies occurring in the first year after the procedure.
